EVENT BREAKDOWN
Our Model Congress simulation is meticulously structured over three days: Party Day, Leadership Day, and Simulation Day.

On Party Day, delegates are divided into parties. Each party will create its platform, discussing and defining its stance on various issues. This is your chance to propose your own platform or share your beliefs on the party’s stance. For example, if your party is focusing on environmental sustainability, you might propose a platform advocating for renewable energy initiatives. For more details on the leadership roles available, please refer to the Roles page.

Leadership Day is optional for delegates who do not hold a leadership role. During this day, leaders decide which bills to prioritize, and everyone else has the opportunity to audition for the position of a chair or engage in practice debates with a bill packet. This day is crucial for setting the stage for the final simulations, allowing for preparation and strategic planning.

Simulation Day is when the real action happens. Committees will foster debates on various issues, with delegates arguing their viewpoints passionately. Delegates will continue this discussion into general debate which is held in the House and Senate. This is your chance to promote your party's targets and engage in formal, structured debates. It's a day filled with dynamic discussions and rigorous debates, reflecting the true spirit of legislative processes.

CREATING AND DEFENDING YOUR BILL
As a delegate, you must choose an issue that is important to you or controversial, create a bill, and defend it. On Simulation Day, you will present your bill to your committee, explaining its significance and advocating for its passage. This process will help you develop a deep understanding of the legislative process and improve your ability to advocate for your positions effectively. By crafting and championing your own bill, you will gain valuable insights into how policies are shaped and debated, preparing you for real-world leadership and decision-making.
FORMAL ENVIRONMENT
Model Congress is a formal environment, and there is specific language associated with it. We greatly encourage you to familiarize yourself with the terminology and protocols to ensure a professional and respectful experience. Refer to the NJ Model Congress Manual for any additional information.

We look forward to seeing the innovative ideas and passionate debates you'll bring to this year's Model Congress. Welcome once again, and let’s make this an unforgettable experience!
